“Filament” is a stop-motion animation that abstracts the experience of running through landscape in winter. With meditative pacing and sound, the animation develops cyclical, repetitive motion, progressing through the transformation of form and material. The imagery is influenced by Tommy Thompson Park (commonly known as Leslie Spit) in Toronto, a site of ecological significance that grew out of construction discards. This film is inspired by the transcendent feeling of moving through this site on foot and the resulting sense of disappearing into the landscape. “Filament” was made by Adrienne Scott, with audio (flute and bass flute) created in collaboration with Sara Constant.
This animation developed in parallel with the essay ‘Transit’, linked here.
